Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill) and Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
  2. Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  3. Remove the inflatable restraint instrument panel lower module - driver side. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Replacement - Driver Side .
  4. Remove instrument panel bolt (1).

  5. Remove heater core cover bolt (1) and heater core cover (2).

  6. Remove the 2 heater core clamps (2).

    NOTE: Some coolant may remain in the heater core. Place a protective cover on the floor and position a small container to catch residual coolant during heater core tube removal.
  7. Remove the 2 heater core tubes (3).
  8. Remove the heater core (1).
  9. Change the 2 heater core tube sealing rings.
