Turbocharger Cleaning and Inspection

  1. Clean all mating surfaces.

    NOTE: Completely inspect the turbocharger and all other engine components that may cause similar conditions before replacing the turbocharger.
  2. Inspect all threaded holes for damage.
  3. Inspect the wastegate actuator rod (1) for damage and functionality.
  4. Inspect the compressor and turbine blades for damage or foreign material.
  5. Clean the turbocharger inlet mating surfaces.
  6. Inspect the turbocharger inlet mating surfaces for damage. Replace the turbocharger if damage is found.
  7. Inspect the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid hoses for damage. Replace the hoses if necessary.
  8. Inspect the turbocharger oil feed and return pipes for damage or restriction. Do NOT attempt to clean or repair the pipes. Replace any pipe that has damage or a restriction.
