Base Engine Misfire with Coolant Consumption

Cause Correction
Faulty cylinder head gasket and/or cracking or other damage to the cylinder head and engine block cooling system passages
Coolant consumption may or may not cause the engine to overheat.
  1. Perform a cylinder leak down test. Refer to Cylinder Leakage Test .
  2. Inspect the cylinder head and engine block for damage to the coolant passages and/or a faulty head gasket.
  3. Repair or replace as required.
Faulty EGR System Inspect EGR cooler and replace the EGR cooler if any problem is found.
