Fuel Pressure Regulator 2

- Disconnect the harness connector from Q18A Fuel Pressure Regulator 1, located at the rear of the injection pump.NOTE: Disconnecting Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 switches the fuel rail pressure control to Fuel Pressure Regulator 2. This will cause the engine to go into reduced power mode.
- Start and idle the engine.
- Observe the live plot for sharp changes or shark tooth pattern in the Fuel Rail Pressure while performing the following actions:
- Engine at idle and 1800 RPM
- While at idle, shift the automatic transmission, if equipped, from Park to Drive and back to Park
- Turn the air conditioning ON and OFF
- Verify a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is not displayed, as seen in the surging graph below.
- If a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is displayed
Replace the Q18B Fuel Pressure Regulator 2. Refer to Fuel Pressure Service Valve Replacement (Fuel Pressure Regulator 2) .
- If a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is not displayed
- If a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is displayed
