Fuel Pressure Regulator 2

  1. Disconnect the harness connector from Q18A Fuel Pressure Regulator 1, located at the rear of the injection pump.
    NOTE: Disconnecting Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 switches the fuel rail pressure control to Fuel Pressure Regulator 2. This will cause the engine to go into reduced power mode.
  2. Start and idle the engine.
  3. Observe the live plot for sharp changes or shark tooth pattern in the Fuel Rail Pressure while performing the following actions:
    • Engine at idle and 1800 RPM
    • While at idle, shift the automatic transmission, if equipped, from Park to Drive and back to Park
    • Turn the air conditioning ON and OFF
  4. Verify a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is not displayed, as seen in the surging graph below.
    • If a violent fluctuation in the Fuel Rail Pressure is not displayed
