Circuit/System Verification

- Ignition On
- Verify no other DTCs are set.
- If any other DTCs are set
- If other DTCs are not set
- Measure and record the resistance of the B131 Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor 1, 2 and 3. Compare the measurements to the Temperature Versus Resistance (EGT Sensors)
, Temperature Versus Resistance (EGR Temperature Sensors)
, Temperature Versus Resistance (Reductant Injector)
, Temperature Versus Resistance (Reductant Tank Temperature Sensor)
and Temperature Versus Resistance (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor)
table. The resistance values should be within the specified range indicated in the table.
- If not within the specified range
Replace the appropriate B131 Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor
- If within the specified range
- If not within the specified range
- Inspect for the following conditions:
- Leaks in the exhaust system-Refer to Exhaust Leakage .
- Induction system leaks - Refer to Induction System Smoke Test in Charge Air Cooler Diagnosis (Induction System Air Leak Test) , Charge Air Cooler Diagnosis (Induction System Smoke Test) and Charge Air Cooler Diagnosis .
- Leaking Q17 Fuel Injectors-Refer to Fuel Injector Diagnosis
- Engine cooling system condition-Refer to Engine Overheating
- An engine mechanical condition-Refer to Symptoms - Engine Mechanical .
- If a condition is found
Repair as necessary
- If no condition is found
- Inspect the DOC/DPF and the SCR for any of the following conditions:
- Physical damage or alterations
- Internal rattles caused by a damaged catalyst substrate
- Internal restrictions--Refer to Restricted Exhaust (2.0L Diesel LUZ) .
- If a condition is found
Replace the DOC/DPF or the SCR.
- If no condition is found
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
- Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTCs set
A condition with the system still exists.
- If the DTC does not set
- If the DTCs set
- All OK.
