Circuit/System Verification
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Engine running at a warm stabilized idle, perform the following:
- Command the EGR solenoid to 0% with a scan tool.
- Observe the Induction System Leak Indication parameter for 10 s. The value should be between 0.80:1 and 1.20:1.
- Observe the Induction System Leak Indication parameter while slowly increasing the engine speed until reaching wide open throttle (WOT). After 10 s, the value should stabilize and be between 0.80:1 and 1.20:1.
- If not stable after 10 s and between 0.80:1 and 1.20:1.
Refer to Circuit/System Testing
- If stable after 10 s and between 0.80:1 and 1.20:1.
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that DTCs P0102, P0103, P0106, P0403 or P046C are not set.
- If a DTC sets
If any of the DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle .
- If no DTC sets.
- If a DTC sets
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool MAP Sensor and BARO Sensor 2 parameters are within 4 kPa (0.58 PSI) of each other.
- If not within 4 kPa (0.58 PSI).
If greater than the specified range, refer to DTC P0106 for further diagnosis.
- If within 4 kPa (0.58 PSI).
- If not within 4 kPa (0.58 PSI).
- Verify that leaks do not exist in the induction system. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Diagnosis (Induction System Air Leak Test) , Charge Air Cooler Diagnosis (Induction System Smoke Test) and Charge Air Cooler Diagnosis for Induction System Smoke Testing.
- Verify that leaks and restrictions do not exist in the exhaust system. Refer to Symptoms - Engine Exhaust .
- Engine idling at normal operating temperature. Verify the scan tool MAF Sensor parameter is between 5-40 g/s.
- If not between 5-40 g/s
Refer to Circuit/System Testing .
- If between 5-40 g/s
- If not between 5-40 g/s
- Verify the scan tool MAF Sensor g/s parameter changes smoothly and gradually as the engine speed is increased and decreased while performing the actions listed below.
- Engine idling
- Perform the scan tool snapshot function.
- Increase the engine speed slowly to 3, 000 RPM and then back to idle.
- Exit from the scan tool snapshot and review the data.
- Observe the MAF Sensor parameter frame by frame with a scan tool.
- The MAF Sensor parameter does not change smoothly and /or gradually
Refer to Circuit/System Testing .
- The MAF Sensor parameter changes smoothly and gradually
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
- Verify a DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets
Refer to Circuit/System Testing .
- If the DTC does not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
