Removal Procedure

- Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Front Compartment Insulator - Remove Front Compartment Front Center Insulator Replacement
- Using a suitable tool and a hammer, remove the stake from the wheel drive shaft nut (1).
- Install the CH 49376 wrench (1) and the EN 956-1 extension (2) to the hub using the wheel nuts (3).
- Hold the wheel hub using the CH 49376 wrench (1) and remove the wheel drive shaft nut (2). DISCARD the nut.

- Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod to Steering Knuckle - Separate Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
- Lower Control Arm to Steering Knuckle - Separate Lower Control Arm Replacement
- Using the DT 49400 remover (1), separate the wheel drive shaft from the front wheel bearing/hub.
- Using a long screw driver (1), separate the wheel drive shaft (2) from the intermediate shaft or power transfer unit (3).
- Wheel Drive Shaft - Remove
CAUTION:
Make sure that the wheel drive shaft nut is fully un-staked to avoid damage to the wheel drive shaft threads during the removal of the wheel drive shaft nut. Failure to follow these instructions could result in wheel, nut, and/or stud damage.
