Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement .
  2. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .
  3. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve temperature sensor - position 1. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 1 .
  4. Remove and DISCARD the 9 exhaust manifold nuts (3).

    WARNING: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning .
    WARNING: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning .
  5. Remove the 9 exhaust manifold heat shield spacer (4).
  6. Remove the exhaust manifold (1).
  7. Remove and DISCARD the exhaust manifold gasket (2).
