Installation Procedure

Inspect the exhaust manifold bolt studs for tight fit.
Inspect the exhaust manifold bolt stud threads. Rework if necessary.
Clean sealing surfaces. Remove all remains of old gasket material.
Install a NEW exhaust manifold gasket (4).

Install the exhaust manifold (3).
Install the 9 exhaust manifold heat shield spacer (2).
Install 9 NEW exhaust manifold nuts (1).
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

NOTE: DO NOT re-use the exhaust manifold nuts.
Tighten the 9 exhaust manifold nuts in a sequence as shown to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

Install the EGR valve temperature sensor - position 1. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 1 .
Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .
Install the turbocharger. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement .
