Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LS7)

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Left Side (LS7) .
  2. Remove the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Replacement (LS7) .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the front compartments air deflector. Refer to Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement .
  5. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (V8) .
1 Exhaust Manifold Fasteners (Qty: 6)
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure

  1. Using NEW fasteners, apply a 5 mm (0.2 in) wide band thread of threadlock to the threads.
  2. Tighten the fasteners starting at in the center, alternating side-to-side, working outward.

Tighten

  1. 15 N.m (11 lb ft)
  2. 20 N.m (15 lb ft)

3 Exhaust Manifold

Procedure

  1. Remove and DISCARD the exhaust manifold gasket.
  2. Clean the exhaust manifold and cylinder head gasket surfaces and install a NEW exhaust manifold gasket.
