Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (LUW) .
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill) , Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
  5. Remove the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LUJ) , Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LUW) .
  6. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LUJ) , Generator Replacement (LUW) .
  7. Remove the timing belt rear cover. Refer to Timing Belt Rear Cover Replacement .
  8. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  9. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the water pump. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LUW) , Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LUJ) .

  11. Remove the engine oil cooler inlet pipe bolt (4).
  12. Push the engine oil cooler inlet pipe (1) into the engine oil cooler housing (2).
  13. Remove the 2 engine oil cooler outlet pipe bolts (5) from the water pump.
  14. Push the engine oil cooler outlet pipe (3) into the engine oil cooler housing (2).

  16. Remove the 8 engine front cover bolts (2, 3).
  17. Remove the engine front cover (4).
  18. Remove the engine front cover seal (1).
