Circuit/System Testing

NOTE: The PPS is a calibrated unit. When replacing the assembly all parts in the service it must remain together. Do not mix any of the old part with the new parts. The PPS service kit contains, seat foam, pressure sensor and PPS module (if applicable).

NOTE: Do not place the following electronic devices on the front passenger seat, computers, MP3 players, cell phones or scan tools. These devices may interfere with operation of the PPS, by generating electric fields causing the PPS module to set DTC 5045.

NOTE: When removing connectors inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector.

Verify that DTC 5045 is not set.

If the DTC is set, verify that the seat is dry by removing the trim form the seat bottom frame. If the seat is wet, allow 24-48 hours dry time and the follow the repair procedure Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System Replacement - Front (with SS) or Inflatable Restraint Passenger Presence System Replacement - Front (without SS - UD0) . If the DTC is history, do not replace the PPS module. Clear PPS DTCs.
