Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Pontiac G5 and 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  2. If equipped with RPO NU3, remove the secondary air injection (AIR) check valve. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Check Valve Pipe Replacement .
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement .
  4. Remove the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S). Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 1 .
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Remove the catalytic converter assembly. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LAP) .
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Remove the exhaust manifold nuts.
  10. Remove the exhaust manifold and discard the exhaust manifold gasket.
  11. Clean and inspect all gasket mating surfaces.
