Output Shaft Disassemble: Disassemble

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Pontiac G5 and 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    IMPORTANT: Do not mix up the synchronizer components. All of the parts should be installed in their original locations.
  1. Remove the 87 92 103  from 1st gear and the 1st/2nd gear synchronized sleeve. See Special Tools .

  3. Remove the 2nd driven gear and bushing.
  4. Remove the 2nd gear synchronizer assembly, blocking ring, and inner and outer cones.
  5. IMPORTANT: Mark the top of 1st/2nd gear synchronizer hub to orient the part correctly during assembly.
  6. After marking the top of 1st/2nd gear synchronizer hub, turn over the assembly and remove the 1st gear.
  7. Remove the 1st gear synchronizer assembly, blocking ring, and inner and outer cones.
  8. Remove the 1st gear synchronizer springs.
  9. Turn hub and sleeve over and remove the remaining synchronizer spring and inserts.
  10. Remove the hub sleeve.

  12. Remove the output shaft bearing using the J 39511  in a hydraulic press. See Special Tools .
  13. Inspect the conditions of the gears and synchronizers. Refer to Synchronizers Cleaning and Inspection .
