Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe and Hole Cover Installation (LS3, LS7)

  1. Install the seals (308) onto the engine coolant air bleed pipe.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
    NOTE: Production engines use a rivet-type plug at the top rear coolant passage of each cylinder head. If service of a leaking plug is required, it is necessary to remove the cylinder head from the engine to properly remove the plug prior to cover installation. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .
  2. Install the pipe (307) and bolts (309). Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
  3. As required, install either a NEW rivet plug or the earlier design coolant air bleed covers with seals (313) and bolts (312). Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble . Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
