Airbag Side Impact Sensor Replacement - Rear

WARNING:

When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling. Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

WARNING:

Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS). Before applying power to the SIS make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedures could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the rear side door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Enclave)Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Acadia or Traverse) .
  3. Remove the rear side door water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
1 Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Module Bolt
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedures

  1. Loosen the bolt and slide sensor out of key hole slot, the bolt is integral to the sensor.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
NOTE:

Integral sensor assembly bolt uses Left Hand threads. Use counterclockwise rotation to loosen fastener at TORX® tip end. If accessing at pan head end of the fastener, use clockwise rotation to loosen bolt.


Tighten 
9 N.m (80 lb in)
