Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    WARNING: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) lower insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .

  3. Disconnect the clutch pedal position sensor electrical connector (1).

  4. Remove the clutch master cylinder rod retainer.
  5. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder rod from the clutch pedal.

  6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  7. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder hose from the hose retaining clip.

  8. Lower the vehicle. Leave the vehicle on the hoist.
  9. Remove the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement .
  10. Rotate the clutch master cylinder counterclockwise 45 degrees.
  11. Release the clutch master cylinder from the dash panel.
  12. Move the clutch master cylinder away from the dash panel approximately 25 mm (1 in).

    NOTE: Prior to disassembly take note of the direction of the clutch pedal assist spring and its relationship to the clutch pedal.
  13. Push down on the clutch pedal to release the pedal assist spring.
  14. Finesse the spring from the clutch pedal bracket.
  15. Remove the driver foot rest bracket retaining bolt.
  16. Remove the driver foot rest bracket retaining nut.
  17. Remove the driver foot rest bracket from the vehicle.
  18. Remove the driver foot rest spacer from the dash panel stud.

  19. Remove the clutch pedal bracket mounting nuts.
  20. Remove the clutch pedal bracket stud anchor plate.
  21. Remove the clutch pedal and bracket assembly from the vehicle.

  22. Remove the clutch pedal bolt.
  23. Remove the clutch pedal nut.
  24. Remove the clutch pedal from the clutch pedal bracket.
