Transmission Case

  1. Remove the transmission case cooler line return fitting.

  2. Remove the reverse lamp switch.

  3. Remove the E-Z key switch (1).

  4. Remove the dowel pins.

    IMPORTANT: Do not replace the bearing race unless inspection shows bearing race damage.
  5. Remove the countershaft bearing race, using J 39442  (1) and J 26941  (2). Tap out race with a hammer. See Special Tools .

    IMPORTANT: Do not replace the bearing race unless inspection shows bearing race damage.
  6. Remove the mainshaft bearing race, using J 39442  (1) and J 26941  (2). Tap out race with a hammer. See Special Tools .

  7. Remove the 1st/2nd and the 3rd/4th shift shaft bushings, using the J 39439-3  (2) and the J 36190  (1). See Special Tools .
