Disassembly Procedure

  1. Remove the reverse idler shaft bracket bolts.

  2. Remove the reverse idler gear and the roller bearing.

  3. Remove the reverse idler shaft using a suitable tool.

  4. Remove the countershaft rear bearing retainer.
  5. Cut away plastic roller bearing cage and remove the bearings. Discard the cage and the bearings.

  6. Install J 45124  (1), J-45124-9  (2), and J 29369-2  (3) in the extension bearing race and on the extension housing. See Special Tools .
  7. Remove the countershaft extension bearing race. Discard the bearing race.

  8. Remove the oil funnel from the bearing assembly.

  9. Using J 39439-2  (2) and J 23907  (1), remove the bushing. See Special Tools .

  10. Remove the output shaft outer and inner seals.

    Pry out the seal with a suitable tool.

  11. Remove the mainshaft bearing race retainer ring.
    12. IMPORTANT: Do not replace the bearing race unless inspection shows bearing race damage.
  12. Remove the mainshaft bearing race using J 26941  and J 23907  . See Special Tools .
