Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution .
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the drive axles. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (Diesel - Automatic and Manual) or Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (Gasoline - Automatic Transaxle) or Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (Gasoline - Manual Transaxle) .
    3. IMPORTANT: Do NOT damage the bore of the transaxle case.

  3. Remove the transaxle drive seal using a flat-bladed tool. If necessary, crush the seal first in order to loosen the seal from the case.
