Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
- Remove the ECU module. Refer to Engine Control Module (ECM) Replacement .
- Remove the generator assembly. Refer to Generator Replacement (L26) or Generator Replacement (LY7) .
- Remove the coolant overflow reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .
- Remove the power steering reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement .
- Remove the camshaft covers.
- For the left camshaft cover, refer to Valve Rocker Arm Replacement - Left .
- For the right camshaft cover, refer to Valve Rocker Arm Replacement - Right .
- Remove the upper radiator hose. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet (3.8L) or Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet (3.6L) .
- Remove the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (LY7) or Water Pump Replacement (RPOs L26/L32) .
- Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine .
- Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
- Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
- Remove the engine front cover from the engine block. Refer to Engine Front Cover Removal .
