Differential Case Assemble

  1. Assemble the differential gear assembly by installing the differential case (320) to ring gear (307) using 12 ring gear-to-case bolts (306).

    Tighten:  Tighten the ring gear-to-case bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft) plus 90 degrees.

    An option for limited slip differential or open differential exists for some models. See inset. Both differential assemblies are serviced only as a complete assembly. The bolts, ring gear and tapered roller bearings are serviceable components.

  3. Press the differential bearings onto the differential assembly using the SA9120T  (1). Use the 87 92 210  (2) under the differential as shown. See Special Tools .
  4. To change the differential bearing races, refer to Clutch Housing Assemble  and Transaxle Case Disassemble  or Transaxle Case Assemble .
