Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement

Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the under the hood electrical center bracket. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Bracket Replacement .
  3. Remove the vacuum booster check valve. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement (2.0L)  or Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement (2.2L)  or Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement (2.4L) 
  4. Remove the brake master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement (Automatic)  or Master Cylinder Replacement (Manual) 
  5. Remove the steering column filler. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement
1 Brake Pedal Clevis Pin Retaining Clip
2 Brake Pedal Clevis Pin Washer
3 Vacuum Booster Mounting Bolt (Qty: 2)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 17 N.m (14 lb ft).


Tip:  Finger tighten the mounting bolts before torquing them to specifications.

5 Vacuum Brake Booster Seal
Tip:  DO NOT re-use the seal if damaged. Replace with NEW.
