Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the steering wheel SIR module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  3. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) cluster bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement .
  4. Remove the steering column covers. Refer to Steering Wheel Shroud Replacement .
1 Steering Wheel Nut
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  40 N.m (30 lb ft)

2 Steering Wheel
Tip:  Use J 1859-A  Steering Wheel Puller and J 42578  Steering Wheel Puller Legs to remove the steering wheel. See Special Tools .
