Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick Lucerne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    IMPORTANT: In case of power loss the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) switch must be manually released in order to remove the console trim plate. If no power loss proceed to step  4.
  1. Lift up the console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  2. IMPORTANT: Wear gloves to protect hands from sharp edges.

  3. Remove the BTSI pin cover (1).

  5. Depress the BTSI switch pin (1) to release the shifter out of park.
  6. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .

  8. Remove the transmission range selector cable terminal (2) from the shift control pin.
  9. Remove the transmission range selector cable (1) from the shift control base.
  10. Disconnect the electrical wire harness connector from the shift control.

  12. Remove the shift control fasteners.
  13. Spread the console side panels apart and remove the shift control assembly.
