Rear Park Brake Cable (Right): Installation

  1. Install the cable to the backing plate. See Figure. Connect the cable to the parking brake lever.
  2. Install the brake shoes. See BRAKE SHOES . Install the brake drums. See BRAKE DRUM .
  3. Parking brake adjustment is not necessary. This is a self adjusting system and damage may result from attempting to adjust or modify this system in any way. It may be necessary to adjust the rear brakes to obtain the proper tension in the system. See DRUM BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  4. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Connect the right rear park brake cable to the bracket. Connect the right rear park brake cable to the cable connector. Lower the vehicle.
