Test J: Park Brake Will Not Hold Or Release

  1. If sent here from SYMPTOM INDEX  table, go to next step. If not sent here from SYMPTOM INDEX  table, go to PARK BRAKE DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Inspect the park brake system for proper operation. See PARK BRAKE SYSTEM TEST  under SYSTEM TESTS. If problem was found and corrected, go to step  6. If problem was not found, go to next step.
  3. Inspect the drum brake system for proper operation. See DRUM BRAKE SYSTEM TEST  under SYSTEM TESTS. If problem was found and corrected, go to step  6. If problem was not found, go to next step.
  4. Inspect the disc brake system for proper operation. See DISC BRAKE SYSTEM TEST  under SYSTEM TESTS. If problem was found and corrected, go to step  6. If problem was not found, go to next step.
  5. Inspect the hydraulic brake system for proper operation. See HYDRAULIC SYSTEM TEST  under SYSTEM TESTS. If problem was found and corrected, go to next step. If problem was not found, go to PARK BRAKE DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  6. Road test the vehicle in order to confirm proper operation. See VEHICLE ROAD TEST  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If problem is still present, go to step  2. If problem is not present, system is okay.
