  2. Inspect the brake fluid level. Is the brake fluid level okay? If so, go to next step. If not, see BRAKE FLUID LOSS  under SYMPTOM TESTING.
  3. Install a scan tool. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. With a scan tool, observe the LOW BRAKE FLUID parameter in the Instrument PANEL CLUSTER data list. Does the scan tool indicate that the LOW BRAKE FLUID parameter is OFF? If so, see INTERMITTENTS  in SYMPTOMS - HYDRAULIC BRAKE under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If not, go to next step.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect the brake fluid level switch. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. With a scan tool, observe the LOW BRAKE FLUID parameter. Does the scan tool indicate that the LOW BRAKE FLUID parameter is OFF? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  6 .
  5. Test the signal circuit of the brake fluid level switch for a short to ground. If condition was found and corrected, go to step  10 . If condition was not found and corrected, go to step  7 .
  6. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the brake fluid level switch. If condition was found and corrected, go to step  10 . If not, go step  8 .
  7. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument panel cluster (IPC). If condition was found and corrected, go to step  10 . If not, go step  9 .
  8. Replace the brake fluid level switch. See MASTER CYLINDER FLUID LEVEL SENSOR  . After completing repair, go to step  10
  9. Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). See appropriate GAUGES & INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. When done with repairs, go to next step.
  10. Operate the system in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? If condition was found and corrected, testing is complete. If condition was not found and corrected, go to step  2 .
