Installation Procedure

  1. Install the instrument panel assist handle (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Position the instrument panel assist handle into the retainers (2).
    1. Push the instrument panel assist handle down in order to engage the retainers.
    2. Verify that the instrument panel assist handle locks into place.
  3. Install the inflatable restraint filler panel to the instrument panel, if not equipped with passenger SIR.
    CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  4. Install the bolts that retain the inflatable restraint filler panel to the instrument panel.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 11 N.m (97 in lbs).

  5. Install the passenger supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR). Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (PASSENGER-SIDE) .
  6. Install the instrument panel passenger side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Right .
