Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing & Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift Standard)

CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION .
  1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle .
  3. Remove the electric park lock. Refer to Electric Park Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift) .
  4. Remove the electronic lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift)  or Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift) .
  5. Inspect the steering column assembly for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle .
  6. Remove the 2 pan head screws (1) from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2).
  7. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (2).

  9. Remove the inner boot seal (4).
  10. Remove the steering shaft seal (3) from the adapter and bearing assembly (1).
  11. Remove the shaft seal retainer (2) from the adapter and bearing assembly (1).
  12. Remove the adapter and bearing assembly (1) from the steering shaft assembly.

  13. Remove the steering shaft assembly (1) from the steering column support assembly (2) and the steering column jacket assembly (3).

  14. Remove the 4 TORX® head screws (1) from the steering column support assembly (2).
  15. Discard the 4 TORX® head screws (1).
  16. Remove the steering column support assembly (2) from the steering column jacket assembly (3).
