Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install NEW seals onto the servo pistons and the servo cover.
  2. Install the 2-4 servo.
  3. Install the J 29714-A.

  4. Tighten the bolt on J 29714-A  in order to compress the servo cover.
  5. Install the servo cover ring.
  6. Remove the J 29714-A. 
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Install the oil pan bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 11 N.m (97 lb in).

  8. Install the heat shield and bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  9. Install the exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD PIPE REPLACEMENT (6.0L AND 8.1L ENGINES) in Engine Exhaust.
  10. Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® III transmission fluid. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID CHECKING PROCEDURE  .
