Rear Disc Brake Backing Plate: Installation

  1. Install the backing plate to the axle housing flange.
  2. Install the backing plate nuts. Tighten the backing plate bolts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Install the rear drive axle. See REAR AXLE SHAFT REPLACEMENT in appropriate REAR DRIVE AXLE article.
  4. Install the park brake shoe.
  5. Install the rear brake rotor.
  6. Install the brake caliper and bracket assembly. See REAR DISC BRAKE HARDWARE  .
  7. Install the park brake cable to the rear brake caliper. See PARK BRAKE CABLE  .
  8. Adjust the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle.
