Park Brake Adjustment

  1. Remove the rear brake rotor. See REAR BRAKE ROTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Adjust the Drum-to-Brake Shoe Clearance Gage (J-21177-A) until it contacts the inside diameter of the rotor.
  3. Position the shoe clearance gage over the park shoe lining, left side shown, at the widest point.
  4. Turn the adjuster nut until the lining just contacts the shoe clearance gage.
  5. Repeat steps  1 - 3 to adjust the right rear park brake.
  6. The clearance between the rear park brake shoe lining and the rotor should be .026" (0.66 mm).
  7. Install the rear brake rotor. See BRAKE ROTOR - REAR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
