Adjusting Screw Installation

  1. Use the brake shoe spanner in order to spread the brake shoes apart.
  2. NOTE: Ensure that the adjuster engages the brake shoes, the park brake actuator, and the adjuster actuator properly.
  3. Install the adjuster. Install the adjuster spring.
    1. Install the straight end of the adjuster spring into the brake shoe.
    2. Install the hook end of the adjuster spring to the adjuster actuator.
    See Figure .
  4. Adjust the rear drum brakes. See DRUM BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS. Install the brake drum. See REAR BRAKE DRUM  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Install the rear wheel and tire. Lower the vehicle.
