Drum Brake Hardware: Installation

  1. Apply Lubriplate(R) Lubricant, GM P/N 1050109, Canadian P/N 5264008, or the equivalent, to the metal contact points on the backing plate and the adjuster strut. Assemble the adjuster strut.
  2. Install the adjusting hardware with the shoes. See BRAKE SHOES  .
  3. Adjust the drum brakes. See ADJUSTMENT  under DRUM BRAKES in ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS. Install the brake drum. Install the rear wheel and tire. Lower the vehicle.
