NOTE:
During reassembly, use oil-soluble grease with a low melting point (petrolatum or equivalent) to temporarily retain parts, butt seal rings, scarf-cut seal rings and hook-type seal rings.
- Position main housing so front of housing is upward. Remove 2 bolts from the Main Shaft Holder (J-44587) or equivalent, and remove the tool from the PTO access.CAUTION: Installation of thrust bearing assembly into rear of the P1 sun gear in wrong direction (Blue stripe showing) could result in destruction of the transmission. Blue stripe will NOT show when thrust bearing is installed.
- Coat rotating clutch assembly thrust bearing with petrolatum. Align thrust bearing so Blue stripe on thrust bearing is facing TOWARD P1 planetary carrier assembly. Ensure thrust bearing is fully installed.
- Install rotating clutch assembly, turning clutch assembly until module seats in place. Ensure teeth of PTO gear or teeth of output shaft tone wheel are visible through turbine speed sensor hole in main housing. See Figure.
