Rear Cover Assembly Installation: Notes

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado, and 2002 GMC Sierra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Bolts used to install torque converter housing and rear cover to the main housing are similar in size and color; however, the rear cover bolts are shorter than torque converter housing bolts. Some transmissions have park brake cable brackets installed on rear covers. Use 1.6" (40 mm) long bolts to install a bracket with .2" (5 mm) or less thickness; use 1.8" (45 mm) long bolts to install a bracket that is thicker than .2" (5 mm). NEVER use a longer bolt with a thinner bracket or main housing damage will result.
