P2 Planetary Module & Main Shaft Installation

CAUTION:
Installation of thrust bearing assembly onto P2 planetary module in wrong direction (Blue stripe showing) could result in destruction of transmission. Note that this thrust bearing installation is OPPOSITE of installation for P1 planetary module thrust bearing and P3 sun gear thrust bearing.
- Install P2 planetary module. Rotate module until module drops into place. Align and install thrust bearing assembly so Blue stripe on thrust bearing is facing TOWARDS P2 planetary module.
- Position Main Shaft Holder (J-44587) or equivalent, with PTO access so tongue of holder tool is facing toward PTO access. See Fig 1. Ensure 2 bolt holes of the tool are aligned with 2 front bolt holes of PTO access. Install tool onto PTO access with 2 bolts.
- Install P2 sun gear and sun gear spacer onto main shaft. See Figure and Fig 2
. As a unit, install main shaft, P2 sun gear and spacer into P2 planetary carrier. Align P3 sun gear so flat side of the sun gear is facing spacer. Install P3 sun gear onto main shaft. Ensure splines are engaged.CAUTION: Installation of thrust bearing assembly onto P3 sun gear in wrong direction (Blue stripe NOT showing) could result in destruction of transmission. Note that this thrust bearing installation is OPPOSITE of installation direction for P2 planetary module thrust bearing.
- Align thrust bearing so Blue stripe on thrust bearing is facing AWAY from P3 sun gear.
