Output Nut Installation

NOTE: This procedure applies only to 1000 series 4WD transmissions.
  1. Using a wrench on selector shaft flats, rotate shaft to fullest clockwise position. See Figure. Ensure park pawl is engaged.
  2. Install Spanner Nut Wrench (J-43769) or equivalent, onto NEW output nut and output shaft. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Using a wrench on selector shaft flats, rotate shaft to fullest clockwise position. See Figure. Rotate selector shaft counterclockwise by 2 detents. Ensure park pawl is disengaged.
