Front Support Assembly: Reassembly

CAUTION: Ensure all pins and clips are seated below sealing or mating surface after installation of valves and stops to prevent damage to transmission.
  1. Position front support assembly on workbench so rear of assembly is facing downward. Install converter flow valve, spring and stop. See Figure and Figure .
  2. Assemble Spring Compressor Adapter (J-24459-5) or equivalent, and Main/Lube/Converter Relief Valve Spring Compressor (J-43770) or equivalent. See Figure. Install the valve spring compressor onto the front support with 2 retaining bolts. See Figure.
  3. Align slot of spring compressor adapter with retainer pin. Compress spring until stop is past pin hole, then install retainer pin. See Figure. Remove valve spring compressor.
  4. Install converter relief valve and spring. Using Valve Spring Compressor (J-43773) or equivalent, compress spring. Install retaining clip. See Figure.
  5. Install lube regulator valve and spring. Install a NEW "O" ring onto lube regulator stop, then install stop. Align slot of spring compressor adapter tool with retainer pin. Using adapter, compress spring until stop is past pin hole. Install retainer pin. See Figure.
  6. Install clutch backfill valve and spring. Using valve spring compressor tool, compress spring and install retaining clip. See Figure.
  7. Install main regulator valve, spring and stop. Assemble spring compressor adapter and valve spring compressor tool assembly. Install tool assembly onto front support with 2 retaining bolts. See Figure.
  8. Align slot of spring compressor adapter with retainer pin. Compress spring until stop is past pin hole, then install retainer pin. See Figure. Remove tool assembly.
