Converter Housing/Front Support Module: Disassembly

  1. Position converter housing/front support module on workbench, with torque converter housing (cavity) upward. Remove oil seal from end of splined shaft and remove 10 bolts from inside cavity. Remove and discard bolt seals.
  2. Remove converter housing from front support module, using care not to damage separator plate. Remove gasket from separator plate.
  3. Remove 2 butt seal rings from ground sleeve. See Fig 1. Remove 3 butt seal rings from rear hub of front support assembly. Remove thrust washer.
  4. Remove 5 bolts holding main pump assembly to front support assembly. Carefully separate front support assembly, separator plate, and main pump assembly.
