Dowel Pin Replacement

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado, and 2002 GMC Sierra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: DO NOT mar main valve body surface when installing dowel pins. Use only gentle tapping on Dowel Pin Installer (J-43779) or equivalent. If surface is damaged, replace main valve body.
NOTE: Main valve body has 5 dowel pins which can be replaced; however, DO NOT replace a dowel pin unless it is damaged.

Remove damaged dowel pin from main valve body. Place NEW dowel pin into installer tool and gently tap dowel pin into place until tool just touches main housing surface. The dowel pin should be .42-.44" (10.7-11.3 mm) above main valve body surface. See Figure.
