Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2002 GMC Envoy XL, 2002 GMC Envoy, and 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If the steering wheel has steering wheel controls, install the steering wheel module coil with the wire harness assembly as one piece. Refer to SIR COIL ASSEMBLY .
  2. Connect all of the connectors from the new wire harness assembly.

  3. Push the key alarm connector (1) into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
  4. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees so that the key alarm connector (1) locks into place.
  5. Install the electric park lock. Refer to Electronic Park Lock Switch Replacement .
  6. If equipped, install the theft deterrent control module. Refer to THEFT DETERRENT CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT .
    7. CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Coil Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Install the wires back into the ignition switch clip, which is located on the side of the ignition switch.

  8. Install the wire harness strap.
  9. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  10. Enable the inflatable steering wheel module. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM .
