Water Pump: Installation

CAUTION: Carefully follow installation instructions. Cooling system may leak if instructions are not followed.

NOTE: When replacing the water pump, coolant will be spilled onto the timing belt. Replacement of the timing belt due to coolant spillage on the belt is not necessary. Ensure any spilled coolant is cleaned from timing belt and components.

Clean block at the water pump mating surface. Install NEW water pump "O" ring seal to the water pump. Install the water pump assembly. Install the water pump bolts. Tighten water pump bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install NEW timing belt, if necessary. See TIMING BELT & SPROCKETS . Install the timing belt cover. Fill and bleed coolant system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING . Check cooling system for leaks.
