Installation (Rear - 2500 & 3500 Series)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the anti-rattle clips to the brake caliper mounting bracket. See Figure.
  2. Install the brake pads to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  3. Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  4. Perform the following procedure before installing the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and the brake caliper mounting bolts:
    • Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
    • Clean the threads of the bolt with brake parts cleaner or the equivalent and allow to dry.
    • Apply Threadlocker (GM P/N 12345493) to the threads of the bolt.
  5. Install the brake caliper mounting bolts. Do not tighten.
  6. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket and brake caliper as an assembly. See Figure.
  7. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake hose fitting end. See Figure.
  10. Install 2 NEW copper brake hose gaskets. Assemble the 2 NEW copper brake hose gaskets and the brake hose inlet fitting bolt to the brake hose.
  11. Connect the brake hose at the caliper by installing the brake hose to caliper bolt. Tighten the bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  12. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
  13. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level with clean brake fluid. See MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FILLING  under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM.
