Compressor Replacement (LAT)

Compressor Replacement (LAT)

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the right front fender liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  6. Remove compressor hose assembly. Refer to Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement (L61)  or Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement (L66) .
1 A/C Compressor Bolt (Qty: 3)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tip:  Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts in sequence shown in graphic.

Tighten:  50 N.m (37 lb ft)

2 A/C Compressor Assembly
Tip: 
  1. Use a low viscosity, poly-alkylene glycol (PAG) oil. Use of the incorrect oil can result in compressor failure.
  2. When replacing the A/C compressor, balance the compressor oil. Refer to Compressor Oil Balancing .
  3. Using J 39400  leak test A/C compressor fittings.
