Removal Procedure

Tools Required 

  1. Unstake the countershaft driven gear locknut.
  2. Install the J 8614-01  onto the countershaft driven gear (1) to hold the countershaft driven gear stationary during removal of the countershaft lock nut.

  3. Use the J 34826  with a J 8614-01  to remove the countershaft driven gear (1) locknut from the countershaft.

  4. Unstake the front countershaft locknut (2).

  5. Use a J 37271  with a J 8614-01  in order to remove the front countershaft locknut from the countershaft assembly (1).

  6. Use the J 8614-01  in order to remove the countershaft driven gear (2) from the countershaft.
  7. Remove the J 8614-01  from the countershaft driven gear.

  8. Remove the countershaft driven gear thrust bearing (2) from the transaxle case (1).

  9. Remove the countershaft assembly (1) from the underdrive clutch assembly (2).

  10. Remove the underdrive sun gear (1) from the underdrive clutch drum (2).

  11. Remove the underdrive sun gear inner thrust bearing (3) from the underdrive clutch drum (1).
