Front Internal Gear and Low Clutch Sprag Assemble

    IMPORTANT: Make sure that the flat surface of the front internal gear thrust washer (525) is facing toward the flange.
  1. Install the front internal gear thrust washer (525) into the front internal gear (526).

  3. Apply automatic transmission fluid to the inner surface of the low clutch sprag outer race.
  4. Install the low clutch sprag end race (522).
  5. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the low clutch sprag assembly is facing the correct direction before installation.
  6. Install the low clutch sprag assembly (523).
  7. Install the low clutch sprag end race (522).
  8. Install the low clutch sprag retaining ring (521) into the groove of the front internal gear (526).

  10. Apply automatic transmission fluid to the outer surface of the low clutch sprag assembly.
  11. Install the low clutch sprag inner race (520) into the front internal gear assembly (526).

  13. Hold the front internal gear and inspect the movement of the low clutch sprag assembly. The inner race should turn freely counterclockwise (1), and should lock clockwise (2).
