Cornering Lamps Inoperative

1 Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the park lamps ON.
  3. Activate the turn signal switch in both directions to illuminate the cornering lamps.
Did the cornering lamps operate properly?
Go to TESTING FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITIONS AND POOR CONNECTIONS in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3 
3 Do the front park lamps operate properly? Go to Step 4  Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems

  1. Disconnect the inoperative cornering lamp bulb.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn On the inoperative cornering lamp.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the inoperative cornering lamp supply voltage circuit and the inoperative cornering lamp ground circuit.
Did the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 8  Go to Step 5 
5 Test the inoperative cornering lamp supply voltage supply circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to CIRCUIT TESTING and WIRING REPAIRS in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 6 
6 Test the inoperative cornering lamp ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to CIRCUIT TESTING and WIRING REPAIRS in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 7 
7 Test the turn signal switch front park lamps supply voltage circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to CIRCUIT TESTING and WIRING REPAIRS in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 9 
8 Inspect for poor connections at the inoperative cornering lamp bulb connector. Refer to TESTING FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITIONS AND POOR CONNECTIONS and CONNECTOR REPAIRS in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 10 
9 Inspect for poor connections at the turn signal switch connector. Refer to TESTING FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITIONS AND POOR CONNECTIONS and CONNECTOR REPAIRS in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 11 
10 Replace the inoperative cornering lamp bulb. Refer to Cornering Lamp Bulb Replacement (GMC) Cornering Lamp Bulb Replacement (Oldsmobile) .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 12  -
11 Replace the turn signal switch. Refer to MULTIFUNCTION, TURN SIGNAL & HAZARD SWITCH in Steering Wheel and Column.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 12  -
12 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 2
