Schematic Reference: Body Rear End Schematics 
1 Did you perform the Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Body Rear End

  1. Place the transmission in the PARK or NEUTRAL position.
  2. Operate the folding top release switch.
Did the folding top lid release?		 Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the folding top lid release parameter in the body control module data list.
  4. Operate the folding top lid switch.
Does the folding top lid release parameter change states?		 Go to Step 4  Go to Step 5 
4 With a scan tool, command the TONN REL relay on.
Did the folding top lid release?		 Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the folding top lid switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the folding top lid switch and the ground circuit of the folding top lid switch.
Does the folding top lid release?		 Go to Step 18  Go to Step 6 
6 Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the folding top lid switch and a good ground.
Does the folding top lid release?		 Go to Step 7  Go to Step 8 
7 Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the folding top lid switch.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 22  -
8 Test the signal circuit of the folding top lid switch for a short to ground, a high resistance, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 22  Go to Step 21

  1. Disconnect the TONN REL relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuits of the TONN REL relay and a good ground.
Does the test lamp illuminate at both circuits?		 Go to Step 10  Go to Step 11

  1. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the TONN REL relay and the control circuit of the TONN REL relay.
  2. With a scan tool, command the TONN REL relay ON and OFF.
Does the test lamp illuminate only when the TONN REL relay is commanded ON?		 Go to Step 13  Go to Step 12 
11 Repair the open or high resistance in the battery positive voltage circuit of the TONN REL relay. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 22  -
12 Test the control circuit of the TONN REL relay for a short to power, short to ground, an open or high resistance. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 22  Go to Step 21 
13 Momentarily connect a fused jumper wire across the switch side of the TONN REL relay fuse block.
Does the folding top lid release?		 Go to Step 19  Go to Step 14

  1. Disconnect the folding top lid latch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper across the switch side of the TONN REL relay fuse block.
  3. Connect a test lamp between control circuit of the folding top lid latch and the ground circuit of the folding top lid latch.
Does the test lamp illuminate?		 Go to Step 20  Go to Step 15 
15 Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the folding top lid latch and a good ground.
Does the test lamp illuminate?		 Go to Step 16  Go to Step 17 
16 Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the folding top lid latch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 22  -
17 Repair the open or high resistance in the control circuit of the folding top lid latch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 Go to Step 22  -
18 Replace the folding top lid switch.
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 22  -
19 Replace the TONN REL relay.
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 22  -
20 Replace the tonneau lid latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid .
Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 22  -

IMPORTANT: When replacing the body control module, refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
Replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.Did you complete the replacement?		 Go to Step 22  -
22 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?		 System OK Go to Step 3
